Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than twenty years. Her current position is that as president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss was born in California and grew up as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur with a real estate business who later became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. When she was in the year 1972, her parents broke up together and she felt left out. Her family's business was started at the age of 19 as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. The team was later renamed the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers She was also the president of the Great Western Forum. Buss, her five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and controlled them until his death in 2013, took over this ownership by way of an estate. Each of them were entitled to equally vote rights. In 2013, she took over the presidency of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also owner of a portion of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling group).
